The Client
My client is an industry leading provider of latent defect and inherent defect insurance warranty auditing and clerk of works delivery across the UK, Channel Islands, and Ireland. They are widely recognised as one of the UK's leading providers of full compliance, assurance and quality of workmanship services to clients across all commercial, residential, private and institutional sectors.
They currently have a requirement for a Structural Engineer (CEng) to join their ever-growing team in a remote or hybrid role.
The Responsibilities
The role would be offered on a fully remote or hybrid capacity with the retention of your services from any location you desire. The duties and responsibilities would largely entail the review and expertise in the following areas:
1. Review of initial design intent for both residential and commercial structures up to RIBA Stage 4 design
2. RIBA Stage 5 review of as built and part-build structures on site locations and reporting of the same
3. Review of structural calculations
4. Review of both RC and Steel frames structures
5. Review of various foundation types; pile, mass fill, strip high rise buildings
The Requirements
1. Chartered Engineer (CEng. MIStructE, or similar or on route)
2. Significant post qualification experience is essential.
3. In depth technical knowledge of Structural Engineering principles applicable to Building Regulations and other relevant construction standards.
4. Experience across a broad range of building structures, previous experience with high rise structural frames would be a distinct advantage.
5. Requires basic understanding of general insurance principles and terminology desirable.
6. Understanding of Building Regulations and associated legislation.
7. Ability to undertake site inspections to assess compliance with the approved design, Technical Manual, and Codes of Practice.
8. Commercial awareness and ability to work as part of a team.
9. The ability to meet deadlines and manage own workload within agreed parameters.
10. Excellent communication skills.
11. Flexible in personal approach.
12. Full UK driving licence and access to a car for business use.
