About the Role
The Purchasing Officer will be a key member of the purchasing team that supports (capital and revenue) teams, Commercial and operational teams by delivering all procurement and purchasing activities to support the business need. This will include all procurement and purchasing of Contractors, Materials, Tools, Plant, Workwear and PPE and coordinate in the purchasing of ad-hoc supplies.
The candidate will have successfully completed Level 3 CIPS Advanced Certificate or is currently working towards it.
The Purchasing Officer will support the Purchasing Coordinator and wider group in all procurement including the purchase to payment cycle, producing and issuing tenders via NEPO, management of tendering process including bid clarifications, evaluation of bids and the awarding of contracts.
The role includes purchasing materials for a stores service which supplies goods and materials for repairs and maintenance of Gateshead’s housing stock, schools and public buildings, Major building works and Highways departments (including street lighting).
The successful candidate will be a key part of the purchasing team including all responsibilities and will be supported and report to the Purchasing Coordinator directly and the Section manager for Purchasing Stores and Waste.
