Job Description
We are looking for an experienced teacher with a very good understanding of national curriculum policies. You will have a first-rate knowledge of current planning, assessment and quality improvement procedures and have experience in department curriculum development, with great organisational skills, excellent time management and a proven ability to plan and deliver, you are approachable, enthusiastic and a team player. Any experience as a department principal or acting principal teacher would be an advantage.
You will lead and manage a team of teaching staff within the school and assigned curricular areas. Support and deliver quality education to assigned pupils and contribute to the furtherance of the school aims and values, learning, personal responsibility, respect for self and others, maximising and recognising attainment, achievement and responsible social attitudes.
Holding the Standard for Headship became a prerequisite for teachers taking up their first permanent headteacher post at Local Authority and grant-aided schools in Scotland from 1 August, under Section 28 of the Education (Scotland) Act .
There are two exemptions. The first applies to any permanent headteacher who has been appointed to a position in a school on, or prior to, 1 August. The second exemption enables education authorities or the managers of grant-aided schools to appoint a person to a headteacher post, who has not attained the Standard for Headship, on a temporary basis for a period not exceeding 23 months after 1 August .
