To assist the Directors, Associate Directors and Senior Staff in undertaking the Practice’s portfolio of planning and application casework.
Key areas of Responsibility:
In particular, but not exclusively:
* Assessment of potential new client files prepared by others,
* Research of additional site details including planning history and planning policies
* Making site visits,
* Writing fee quotations,
* Determining strategy for planning appraisals,
* Managing applications from appointment to determination,
o Preparing details for fee invoices,
o Preparing statements and supporting documentation for planning applications, certificates lawfulness and appeals,
o Managing the preparation of supporting documentation for applications and appeals by other members of the Applications Team and outside consultants,
o Monitoring of the process and progress of planning applications and conducting negotiations with LPAs and consultees,
o Keeping clients informed of progress throughout,
o Supervision of technical staff on other projects,
o Preparation of appeal handover files,
o Drafting appeal statements,
o Managing the submission of appeals and monitoring progress,
o Representing clients at planning appeals.
General office duties:
* Assisting in maintaining records including job filing and electronic records,
* Assist the general running and administration of the practice by carrying out administrative and support tasks as requested by the Directors, Associate Directors and Senior Management,
* Support trainee planners undertaking the APC.
Qualifications:
Essential:
* Post graduate qualification from an RTPI accredited course,
* Chartered Membership of the RTPI.
Experience/Expertise:
Essential:
* Ability to write clear technical/legal English,
* Good telephone manner,
* Effective team working,
* Ability to carry out thorough and logical research and record finding.
Desirable:
* Good verbal presentation skills,
* Representing cases at appeal,
Required Knowledge:
Essential:
* Knowledge of the planning system,
* Ability to use Microsoft Office software,
* Good ability to use the internet as a research tool.
Desirable:
* Additional specialist expertise in one or all of the following:
o Certificates of lawfulness,
o Enforcement,
o Land use planning, particularly gypsy and traveller cases.

Additional details:
The post is full time based at our offices in Upton Magna. There may be some out of hours working with time off in lieu. Remote working will be supported where appropriate.
Working hours are 9.00 to 5.30 with one hour for lunch.
