Overview
We are currently recruiting an experienced and fully registered triage nurse to support our busy, remote Expert Medical Opinion GP service. Prioritising patient needs and assigning cases appropriately for level of urgency, this role will be best suited to a Band 5 nurse.
You will play a key role in the Teladoc Health’s mission in transforming how people access healthcare – with better convenience, outcomes, and value.
Contract – 12 month maternity cover
Annual Salary – £34,000 FTE pro rata for 1 day per week, or 0.2FTE (£6,800 pa actual salary)
Hours – Part-time only, 9am – 6pm on Thursdays, incl 1h unpaid break, for 8 hours per week in total; flexibility to also cover other staff annual leave will be welcome
Location – Fully remote, working from home; IT equipment provided
Role and Responsibilities
* Working as an autonomous practitioner under the direction of a GP, providing high quality clinical triage for the Expert Medical Opinion telehealth service
* Reviewing incoming cases for urgency and priority based on assessment of symptoms and available health information
* Holding phone and video triage assessments with patients where required
* Evaluating the severity of a patient’s illness quickly before proposing a suitable degree of care centred on all available information
* Providing signposting and/or medical advice to persons who have minor/common health problems
* Efficiently triaging patients depending on the eligibility and exclusion criteria
* Independently carrying out in-depth health assessments / advice to patients who request support from the smoking cessation service under the guidance of our in-house lead nurse.
Essential Criteria
* Registered Band 5 Nurse
* Excellent patient communication skills with the ability to motivate individuals into making life changes
* Excellent clinical knowledge and skills
* Ability to plan effectively and maintain excellent levels of focus and personal organization
* Evidence of CPD. Up-to-date with the NMC revalidation
* Competent user of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Patient Administration Systems
Desirable Criteria
* Experience of triage in primary care
* Experience of triage in a remote setting desirable
