Job Overview Job overview: This is an exciting and rare exciting opportunity for a dynamic, motivated team member to join the Tissue Viability Team at Frimley. We are looking for an experienced Band 5 or a Band 6 to join our team on a secondment as a Band 6. We have a unique opportunity for a staff member to join the Tissue Viability team for a 6 month period. You will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing and supporting patients with highly complex wounds. Main duties of the job Main Duties Of The Job To assess, diagnose and support patients with highly complex wounds and their carers. To deliver high quality evidence based and, cost effective care. To develop and implement education, research and audit throughout the trust under the direction of the Lead Tissue Viability Nurse. To run nurse led clinics providing physical examination and related procedures to agreed protocols. Timely discharge, follow up, or onward referral of patients as appropriate. To work autonomously. Provide a nurse led complex wound service. Actively seek opportunities to participate in health education/health promotion programmes. Obtain informed consent for sharp debridement and related procedures. Act as patient advocate, ensuring a patient-centred, multidisciplinary approach to care. Person specification Qualifications Essential criteria Current NMC Registration Demonstrates continual professional updating of knowledge. Mentor Prep teaching qualification or equivalent Desirable criteria First degree Post registration qualification in Tissue Viability or equivalent experience. Evidence of advanced skills in practice – Competent in NPWT Skills Essential criteria Good time management skills and ability to prioritise workload. Excellent communicator (good written and verbal skills) across a range of professionals Good teaching / presentation skills Computer literate and able to use Microsoft word, Excel and other software packages. Ability to work autonomously Desirable criteria Experience in teaching professionals in groups or one to one Ability to adapt to change within working situations Experience Essential criteria Looking after surgical/complex wounds. Desirable criteria Evidence of advanced skills in practice – Competent in NPWT Understanding of local and National issues relating to Tissue Viability.
