The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
As a Manufacturing Engineer at 3M Skelmersdale, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world.
Here, you will make an impact by:
1. Provide support to production processes and assist with the development, testing and introduction of new products.
2. Develop and implement improvements in department wide processes, procedures and systems.
3. Improve the overall reliability and performance of plant, personnel and production equipment and processes.
4. Carry out feasibility studies for new technical innovations, testing installations and systems, analysing data.
5. Help with installation and commissioning of new equipment and processes.
6. Maintain and develop the delivery of finished products in line with cost, quality and production schedule requirements.
7. Implement standard operating procedures across all areas of responsibility.
8. Health and Safety awareness will be amongst your main priorities, and Health and Safety guidelines should be actively adhered to and promoted.
9. Communicate, liaise and negotiate internally and externally using appropriate methods to facilitate the development of profitable business and sustainable relationships.
10. Develop strong relationships with plant management functions and foster excellent relationships with key business stakeholders.
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M is looking for candidates who must have the following qualifications:
1. Higher educational qualifications in an Engineering discipline preferably Mechanical/Automation/Process or similar.
2. Hands-on experience in a manual and automated assembly manufacturing environment.
3. Experience of lean manufacturing techniques and/or Six Sigma.
4. Experience of manual and automated assembly processes.
5. Experience in managing small/medium sized projects.
6. Strong problem-solving skills.
7. Excellent communication skills.
8. Versatile and a self-starter able to work without supervision.
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
* Six Sigma Yellow/Green belt.
