Job Purpose
The main responsibilities of the role are:
* Manage the data, reporting and analytics capability for BEC
* Lead development, delivery and SME for investment appraisal modelling for investment decisions (energy and carbon projects). Projects ranging from £5m to over £100m (TOTEX)
* Lead Price Review data production and management for the bioresources price control. This includes development, maintenance and assurance of the regional integrated asset planning model.
* Lead alignment of price control cost modelling and forecasting with UUW financial and economic regulatory requirements.
* Lead energy data diagnostics capability to identify opportunities for efficiency improvements across UUW including compliance and regulatory reporting for the EA, Ofwat, Ofgem and other external organisations.
* Lead integration of digital services of new IT systems relevant to data management, reporting and analytics
* Line manage other data analysts within the BEC team.
* Build and develop specifications and use of strategic tools for BE&C to support future business planning
* Lead data transformation programmes for BEC aligned with UUW business strategy.
* Develop processes and manage the production of regulated reporting for Bioresources, Energy and Carbon
* Be point of contact for business stakeholders for BEC data and systems development, management and improvement programmes.
* Develop new analytics and reporting capabilities for BEC as part of transformation and business delivery improvements.
Job Accountabilities

* Review deliverables and ensure required quality and timeliness
* Mentor and develop team
* SME for mentoring others in BEC on data analytics, reporting and visualization
* Manage continued development, implementation and presentation of outcomes for the Regional Integrated Asset Plan (RIAP) Tool for BE&C
* Develop, undertake and report outcomes to senior personnel from bespoke investment appraisal models for BE&C investment projects.
* Lead regulatory reporting and compliance management reporting systems for Ofwat and EA for BE&C
* Develop and maintain other strategic tools to support BE&C PR24 development, e.g. long term asset management modelling capability, energy forecasting etc.
* Lead all non-financial annual reporting for BE&C regulated reporting requirements
* Lead BE&C engagement with finance for financial reporting for BE&C (increasing area of development where Ofwat are requiring more information and more detail of integration of financial and non-financial data)
* Manage and deliver reporting for bioresources ODI’s
* SME on energy and carbon policy to ensure compliance with requirements such as green incentives (£10m annual value); ESOS delivery (EA requirement); and developing and management new revenue streams for BE&C.
* Lead data delivery working group for BEC to organise and prioritise plan for developing BEC data, reporting and analytics capability
* Lead digital services interface for new IT system integration into BEC (data management, reporting and analytics).
* Manage actions and work with the Central Data Reporting (CDT) to develop data management inputs to corporate systems to enable reporting via Exasol in Tableau.
* Define specific data requirements and needs for data management via CDT
* Work with wider stakeholders, e.g. water and wastewater data owners to facilitate integrated data for reporting
* Develop asset management risk and opportunities forecasting capability to align with wider business transformation. Work with Regional Asset Man. to implement, manage and continually improve this outcome.
* Define and manage data quality needs and undertake remedial actions to maintain data sets
* Maintain good working knowledge of corporate reporting and analytics systems to enable their application to BE&C needs
* Manage day to day work with external parties on data management and analysis, e.g. Centrica and electricity sub-metering and Stark
* Represent BEC in wider UU teams to develop business analysis capabilities
* Maintain systems to deliver reporting for compliance for ROCs and RHI.
Knowledge and Skills
Skills & experience required for the role.
* Degree qualified in technical discipline and good working knowledge of statistical analysis
* Ability to define requirements for data management, e.g. data from instrument to data base
* Experience and ability to develop data management processes to meet business assurance requirements
* Proven capability to manage complex data sets and their integration into UU corporate reporting systems
* Ability to develop and deliver investment appraisal models
* Advanced skills in use of UU corporate visualisation tools, e.g. Tableau
* Good knowledge and skills to develop regulated reporting methodologies and reports
* Excellent communication skills to lead engagement with stakeholders to define needs and explaining reporting outcomes
* Detailed knowledge of ROC and RHI reporting processes and requirements
* Good working knowledge of UK energy and bioresources policy and regulation.
