Applications are invited for the post of Consultant Orthodontist based at Morriston Hospital, Swansea. This position is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic candidate to join a well-established, progressive multi-disciplinary team. The Orthodontic department is part of the Maxillofacial unit based at Morriston Hospital and is incorporated within the Head and Neck speciality group.
Main duties of the job
The Maxillofacial department at Morriston Hospital is a large unit. The Orthodontic Department provides a referral service for South Wales, including Adult and Paediatric Orthodontic Services for facial deformity, congenital oral anomalies, trauma, MDT oral surgery cases and support for the national cleft centre. The referrals are of an increasingly challenging and interesting case mix, a high proportion of which are now tertiary referrals.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

There is a commitment in the post for undergraduate and postgraduate teaching providing support for Swansea Medical School and the postgraduate department within the Health Board and the postgraduate Orthodontic students based at the University Hospital of Wales.

Qualifications
Essential
* Full Registration with the GDC
* On the GDC specialist list in Orthodontics
* Membership in Orthodontics, or equivalent
* Intercollegiate Specialty Fellowship Exit Examination in Orthodontics or equivalent
* Certificate of Accreditation or eligibility for CCST in Orthodontics
* Successful completion of an SAC-approved 2 year minimum training programme in a Fixed Term Training Appointment (FTTA) in Orthodontics, or within 6 months of completion of training, or equivalent which follows on from the pre-CCST training period of 3 years, or equivalent
Desirable
* Fellowship in Dental Surgery or Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery, or equivalent
* Successful completion of an SAC-approved 3 year minimum training programme in Orthodontics
