Overview Local independent, family-run nursery & garden centre seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to fill the role of the Hardy Ornamental Plant Manager. They will work with a variety of plants, mainly bought stock with some grown on site. Alongside this role you will be part of the team, assisting with customers and the day to day running of the garden centre. Key Responsibilities Management the of the hardy plant growing and sales area of the nursery and garden centre. Overseeing watering, fertilizing, pruning, and monitoring plant health. Diagnosing issues, and implementing actions as needed to ensure the optimal growth of the plants. Being part of the day-to-day running of the nursery and assisting with the plant displays and arrangements. Ordering and stock control. Provide expert advice to customers on plant selection, care, and maintenance. Qualifications Education and Experience Qualifications in related field. Previous experience in a hardy plant-related role, ideally within a garden centre or nursery. Skills and Competencies Strong knowledge of hardy ornamental plants, including their care requirements and common issues. As well as being plant oriented, the job has a big people element. We are well known for our customer service, so communication skills are key. Ability to work in a team and independently. All ordering is online so you will need good computer skills. We are keen to keep expanding this side of the business. A suitable candidate over time will be expected to generate ideas and drive this area forward. Working Conditions This is outdoor work, in all weather conditions. Physical fitness is paramount as the job will including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
