We are looking for a Theatre Team Leader who possesses the skills, knowledge and expertise required to undertake the role of managing all aspects of the operating suite, consultations and pre-assessment. To lead the team the role requires flexibility to manage the human resources, the service and also work clinically. This is a contracted post of 15 hours per week with additional hours as required. You will require excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to manage staff and promote and enhance this highly rated service.
The Kirton Community Surgical Scheme provides a level three operating theatre suite dedicated to a range of surgical specialities that can be safely undertaken with local anaesthesia in the primary care setting. Our aim is to provide access to excellent local care in the community to prevent patients waiting longer for secondary care procedures.
We offer consultations, pre-assessment, hand and foot surgery, hernia procedures, vasectomies, haemorrhoid procedures and skins lesions and lumps as part of our service. There are approximately 12 sessions per month. You will be multi-skilled in all theatre roles and will also undertake consultations (out-patient) and pre-assessment duties.
Applicants need to be a Registered Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner with a minimum of four years experience in peri-operative care and a wide range of skills to draw from. You will ideally have some management experience or qualification focused on perioperative care, its policies and procedures and their development and are able to keep abreast of new and emerging guidelines, recommendations and technologies.
Person Specification
* A minimum of four years experience in operating theatres in an acute peri-operative care.
* A recent mandatory training profile that demonstrates compliance in a minimum of: BLS, with ILS or ALS ideally.
* A professional and personable outlook on life and a willingness to go the extra mile to provide excellent care in a primary care setting.
* Wonderful communication skills.
Remuneration
A 15 hour annualised hours contract is offered with the requirement to work additional hours at base rate (excepting Saturdays) to cover lists as the need arises. Some hours can be worked at home to undertake online stock orders and non-clinical administrative tasks. During unforeseen periods of reduced activity the contracted hours will be worked in the Practices other clinics.
The hourly rate: £25 per hour. Saturday shifts attract a time and a third enhancement. The annual leave allowance is 84 hours (equal to 27 days per annum pro-rata).
