Faststream recruitment are searching for a Mechanical Design Engineer for our client based in the Liverpool area.

The Role
As a Junior / Mechanical Design Engineer, you’ll join a multi-disciplinary production and engineering team to design, develop, and maintain small craft through 3D models, drawings, and documentation. This role spans products and projects from concept to completion, including testing and implementation. You’ll work closely with project management, purchasing, and production teams to ensure smooth development and manufacturing. Regular coordination with production, suppliers, and contractors is essential, with a strong focus on safety, reliability, manufacturability, quality, and functionality.
The Responsibilities
1. Ability to read and analyse technical specifications accurately.
2. Design and develop high-quality, innovative products that meet the company’s technical and commercial needs.
3. Collaborate effectively within a cross-functional team of Operations Managers, Project Managers, Engineers, and Procurement and Production staff.
4. Create and maintain precise technical drawings and documentation for new and existing products, adhering to British and European standards.
5. Develop inflatable, bonded, and sewn assemblies/fabrications in alignment with in-house production capabilities.
6. Update previously produced products to align with current design standards and manufacturing advancements.
The Experience Desired
1. Background of 1-2 years in relevant experience is preferred.
2. Proficiency in SolidWorks CAD software is required, though experience with comparable 3D modeling software in a professional setting may also be considered.
3. Excellent communication skills and keen attention to detail are a must. The role suits a driven, self-motivated individual who works well both independently and as part of a team.
4. A HNC or Level 4 NVQ in Mechanical Engineering or a related STEM field will be considered, alongside anyone with a degree or experience in a similar role.
5. Must be able to obtain UK Security Clearance.
