Manufacturing Engineer Permanent | Hybrid working (1 day per week onsite) | Equity from day 1 - Our client Our client is a well-backed, London-based Clean-Tech Start-Up, developing innovative solutions for green hydrogen production. The opportunity and role The company is looking for a well-rounded and experienced Manufacturing Engineer to lead manufacturing optioneering and supplier identification, evaluation and selection. Manufacturing Engineer Accountabilities Be the link between engineering and R&D to production. Review and validate detailed designs and drawings in CAD software, enabling the supply and manufacture of mechanical components and associated assemblies. Lead component supplier management and expediting, managing procurement and order processing to optimise quality, lead time, and cost. As part of this, manage the identification, evaluation, and selection of suppliers where we need to add or improve upon existing relationships. You are responsible for justifying changes to our strategy regarding in- or out-sourcing manufacturing process steps. Implement quality standards for components and mechanisms by which we can ensure performance is achieved/maintained. Provide technical leadership and/or support to enable the design, development, and implementation of product improvement opportunities, including working with third parties in the execution of such work. Interface and collaborate well with the electrochemical, process, safety, and electrical teams to achieve the company’s common goal. Personal attributes and qualifications Be passionate about a net-zero environment, excited by innovation, and proactive in your pursuit of it. Have a Master’s in mechanical, manufacturing, or aeronautical engineering. Have 6 years of professional experience as a manufacturing engineer with demonstrable experience in small-scale bespoke or novel component production. Possess strong technical knowledge of engineering drawings, including GD&T (BS or ASME Standards). Have knowledge of measurement techniques and an understanding of how to use them. Be knowledgeable about emerging manufacturing technologies, including ALM and laser processing. Thrive in a startup environment as a self-starter and proactively identify problems and pursue solutions. Have strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and enjoy working in a team environment. Have run multiple supplier selection activities where you identified, evaluated, selected, contracted, and negotiated the manufacture of component parts. Be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and achieve cost and timescale objectives without losing sight of the long-term goal. Be familiar with 3D CAD drawing packages and competent in 2D CAD design. SolidWorks is an advantage
