Job Description
The Engineering intern will be involved with the design of Steam Turbine components for GE Vernova’s products, which provide modern technology to upgrade existing power plants to improve reliability and efficiency (with the resultant reduction in emissions).
The intern will be fully supervised by other staff to explain the tools and methods used, with the objective of making the intern an integral part of the team. Technical training in other aspects of steam plant will be provided.
The intern will report to the Manager, Steam Turbine Design.
In this role, the Engineer will be involved with:
• Definition of the 3D design of rotors, casings and associated components (principally using CATIA V5 CAD system), supported by miscellaneous calculations (e.g. hand calculations, spreadsheet)
• Iteration of design to suit input from other disciplines (e.g. Steampath, Mechanical Integrity)
• Definition of materials, processes, factory and site assembly procedures for the components designed
• Approval of drawings and parts lists created by the draughting team
