Key Responsibilities Food Service Duties: Prepare food service areas and equipment, ensuring everything is ready for use (e.g. woks, fryers, etc.) Serve food and drinks in patient and staff dining areas, as well as on the patient meal assembly belt Ensure a full supply of crockery and cutlery in the restaurant throughout service hours Deliver and collect meal trolleys to and from wards and departments Distribute catering supplies to wards and departments, including call orders Assist with menu collation, ensuring accurate picking and recording of ward food choices Food Preparation Duties: Assist in food preparation, including peeling vegetables, preparing salad items, traying up, and labelling food Maintain portion control and manage food waste, ensuring accurate record-keeping Decant chilled food and assist with food regeneration and garnishing Strictly follow standard recipes and production methods, ensuring all food meets quality, hygiene, and HACCP standards Cash Handling Duties: Operate tills in retail areas, ensuring correct handling of cash and vouchers Maintain accurate cash records, balancing till receipts and accounting for any discrepancies Follow all NHS cash handling and security procedures Resolve customer queries professionally, offering refunds or replacements as needed and escalating where necessary
