Job summary Darwen Healthcare is looking to expand their team further and are looking for a suitably qualified phlebotomist to join our Nursing Team which comprises of: Advanced Nurse Practitioner, Practice Nurses, Assistant Practitioners and Trainee Nursing Associates. Education and Training is the practice ethos and expect the post holder to accept training as appropriate to the role and further development. Main duties of the job The post holder works under indirect supervision of the Darwen Healthcare Nursing Team and undertake tasks and duties delegated by your direct line manager. You will need to work collaboratively with the general practice team to meet the needs of the patients, following policy and procedures. Collection of samples(s) of blood in accordance with training and procedures Ensuring samples are stored in appropriate containers Accurate, legible labelling of all samples to confirm patient identity Checking patient identification against GP/nurse request and confirming with patient whenever possible Recording collection of blood sample in patient record in accordance with practice procedure Ensuring that samples are dispatched to the appropriate laboratories in a timely fashion Ensuring that anomalies are reported to a senior member of staff Notifying the GP/nurse of any significant patient issues Liaising with and assisting members of the administrative team If trained conduct ECG's as requested by clinical members of staff About us We are a 6 GP Partner teaching practice with a large and varied Clinical team, situated in a purpose-built premises in Darwen providing care to approximately 14,000 patients.
