Job Description
This role will report to the main office based in Rugeley however will be based offsite. It is expected that for 3 days of the week the contractor will be based on a customer site based in Norwich ( NR1 1JN). Occasional travel to the Rugeley site will be required too.
We are looking for a proactive and assertive Supply Chain Expeditor to manage a key supplier responsible for motor assemblies. This is a 12-month contract role with a strong focus on ensuring on-time delivery and resolving day-to-day supply issues at the supplier's site. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate a good technical understanding of manufacturing processes and be confident and assertive in managing a challenging supplier relationship.
Key Responsibilities
* Act as the main liaison between our business and the supplier, providing consistent site presence.
* Drive supplier adherence to production and delivery schedules at a granular level, escalating risks where necessary.
* Investigate production delays, material issues, and quality issues and ensure timely resolution.
* Work closely with internal stakeholders in Supply Chain, Projects, Engineering and Quality to coordinate actions and priorities.
* Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for issues.
* Provide clear, consistent updates to the Supply Chain Lead – Motors on supplier performance and key risks.
* Promote supplier accountability through clear communication and structured follow-ups.
* Assist in the development and execution of improvement plans at the supplier site.
Qualifications/Skills Required
* Experience in supply chain, production control, or supplier management roles.
* Assertive and able to maintain a strong on-site presence in a challenging environment maintaining a direct and professional approach.
* Strong technical understanding of manufacturing processes; knowledge of motor assembly is a significant advantage.
* Confident managing a difficult or underperforming supplier, with a diplomatic but firm approach.
* Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
* Excellent communicator and team player.
* Full UK driving licence (due to travel requirements).
