Role Overview: The Senior Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including after-sales support, sales support, and project management. You will be working with customers to resolve issues, support product development, and manage testing and qualification processes for rotating machinery, pumps, turbines, and related systems. This role requires someone with experience in the pump industry, preferably with knowledge of pumps, compressors, electric motors, and pipework systems. You will work with both internal teams (including a small UK-based team and teams in India) and customers to ensure product performance and satisfaction. Key Responsibilities: Provide technical expertise and support in the design, testing, and qualification of mechanical systems, including pumps, turbines, fans, blowers, and compressors. Work directly with customers to provide after-sales support, including troubleshooting, warranty management, and root cause analysis for pump failures. Mentor and support junior engineers and recent graduates, helping to develop their skills and guide them through project work. Collaborate with sales teams to develop bespoke solutions and products for customers in sectors such as water, waste, process, chemical, and hydrocarbons. Manage the testing of products and prototypes in a manufacturing environment, ensuring they meet the necessary performance standards. Oversee after-sales service, site visits, and upgrades, ensuring that systems operate efficiently in real-world environments. Lead project teams, providing guidance on technical and management aspects while ensuring projects are delivered on time. Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards, especially in high-risk environments such as ATEX zones. Essential Skills: Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a strong background in pumps, rotating machinery, and related systems. Experience in customer-facing roles, particularly in sales support and after-sales service. Knowledge of the energy sector, particularly in water, waste, process, and chemical industries. Strong project management and leadership skills, with experience mentoring and managing teams. Familiarity with CAD design work and BOM (Bill of Materials) management. Chartered Engineer status or working towards it (desirable). Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, including root cause analysis for pump failures and performance issues. Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage with customers, suppliers, and internal teams effectively. Desirable Skills: Experience working with water authorities or large-scale EPC firms (such as BAM Nuttall). Background in ATEX environments or hazardous area classification. Experience in testing and qualification of mechanical systems in manufacturing environments. Previous experience leading projects in a global, multi-disciplinary team.
