As a Data Protection Manager, you will support the Data Protection Office to foster a culture of responsible data management and embed data protection best practices across Virgin Media O2 (VMO2) that ensure we comply with our legal and regulatory obligations whilst meeting our organisational objectives.
The must haves
1. Excellent solid understanding of UK data protection law (including Data Protection Act 2018, UK GDPR and PECR).
2. Substantial experience delivering data protection compliance programs in a digitally enabled business to consumer organisation.
3. Exceptional communication skills with the presence and consideration to build strong working relationships across and outside the business.
4. Thought leadership with strong collaborative instinct to drive pragmatic achievable solutions.
The other stuff we are looking for
1. Support the operation of VMO2's privacy compliance framework to ensure it meets all legal and regulatory data protection requirements and the organisational needs of the business.
2. Conduct periodic data protection compliance reviews to identify issues and recommend actions or controls that improve operational efficiency and reduce risk.
3. Produce compliance reports for senior leaders and operational managers and participate in VMO2's data protection governance, risk, and control committees.
4. Support the development of policies, standards, and mentorship to help the business align with relevant legal and regulatory obligations and new technical developments.
5. Support the development and delivery of data protection awareness training and materials.
6. Provide expert analysis and advice on a range of data protection matters including data protection impact assessments, individual rights, and compliance risks.
7. Experience in Audit is desirable.
8. Experience of engaging with the Information Commissioner's Office is desirable.
9. IAPP CIPP/E, CIPM or CIPT or equivalent certification is desirable.
10. Collaborate with incident response teams to ensure privacy incidents are assessed, categorised, recorded, and responded to in line with our legal and regulatory obligations and recommend actions to prevent reoccurrence.
11. Provide support to the Data Protection Officer and other members of the data protection office as required. This may include help managing DPO mailbox and administration of data breaches.
