Description ABOUT THE ROLE In line with the University Strategy and Values and Behaviours, direct a team of Grounds staff, to deliver an efficient, effective and proactive service across the University. Provide management, support, and development of all staff within the team. Ensure adherence to high standards and professional behavior. Responsible for the maintenance and landscaping of outdoor areas and facilities at both City and Coach Lane campus Support the University biodiversity action plan and net gain requirements as set by the planning authority. Foster a strong sense of customer service, both internal and external, across the team. Ensure all tasks are performed in line with health and safety requirements. Knowledge and experience of working on sports grounds facilities ABOUT THE TEAM The role will be primarily based at the city campus but will also cover Coach Lane. ABOUT YOU To be successful in the role you will have: Demonstrable knowledge and experience of the delivery of grounds and horticultural services, Exceptional customer service skills, able to deal with customers courteously and efficiently, whilst managing expectations. Good understanding of the needs of a variety of plants including trees, shrubs and flowers. Knowledge of soil types and soil management strategies. Act professionally and respect colleagues and partners at all times. Able to provide and supervise an efficient and effective grounds and horticultural service. Able to use grounds equipment and vehicles, follow risk assessments and method statements. Able to work outdoors n a variety of weather conditions, including occasional dusty, dirty environments. Able to occasionally lift/carry heavy loads. Competent in using computer systems such as Excel, Word and emails. For further information, please see the person specification.
