Head of Art Department - MPR/UPR + TLR 1B
Are you an excellent and effective teacher, preferably with some wider leadership experience, and ready to take on the leadership of an already strong department? Is the next step in your career to work in an outstanding school with supportive, committed staff and excellent outcomes? If so, this could be for you!
Leadership roles at Soar Valley do not come up often, and this is a very exciting opportunity for a suitably experienced, dynamic and successful professional with leadership potential to join our team and to make a significant contribution to our arts provision, which is highly valued here. Currently we offer GCSEs in Fine Art, Photography and Graphics, and take-up is very strong at Key Stage 4, with at least 7 groups in each of Years 10 and 11.
At Soar Valley College we are committed to high standards, raising achievement and developing excellence in our staff and students. We provide a vibrant and engaging curriculum that promotes a love of learning and prepares young people for the next steps in their lives. Regular external reviews have highlighted excellent practice at Soar Valley, following on from an outstanding Ofsted inspection back in 2014, where ‘teaching is exemplary’ and ‘students are proud to belong to the college’, and we believe this still remains the case.
Our progress measures are strong every year (+0.74 in 2024), with very little in-school variation. The thing we are most proud of however, is our unique and caring ethos, which inspires success for all, making this a great school at which to begin or continue your teaching career. Facilities for Art are excellent, there is a strong, personalised programme of professional development in school, and relationships between all are a strength.
