Job Overview
The post holder will work within the Cancer Care Coordinator team based at the Manchester Royal Infirmary, supporting and delivering personalised care provision for people living with and beyond cancer.
We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic professional who is organised and IT literate. The successful candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a passion for ensuring people living with and affected by cancer receive compassionate, person-centred care. The ability to work independently and as part of a team with the flexibility to meet the demands of this exciting development role is a must.
Please note this role will involve working directly with patients and cancer professionals.
Main duties of the job
The Macmillan Cancer Care Support Coordinator role is an integral part of the Cancer workforce and involves direct contact with people living with and beyond cancer, to support them throughout their cancer care.
You will be a point of contact for patients and carers, supporting and co-ordinating their care. This will include assisting with personalised care, support planning (based on holistic needs assessment), treatment summaries, providing health and well-being information and support which includes personalised stratified follow up and helping to promote cancer awareness. You will work closely with all grades of medical and nursing staff and wider health care teams.

Essential criteria
* Relevant health and social care experience at AfC Band 3 or equivalent
* Experience in use of data and database management
* Understanding of person-centered care
* Ability to communicate both verbally and non-verbally on a daily basis with people at all levels
* Able to show empathy and understand difficulties faced by people affected by cancer
* Working knowledge of Microsoft Office with intermediate keyboard skills
Qualifications
Essential criteria
* GCSE English Language and Mathematics (Grades A-C) or equivalent qualification
* NVQ Level 3 in health related subject / equivalent knowledge and experience (e.g., Health and Social Care / Diagnostics and Therapeutics)

* Ability to deal sensitively with complex and difficult emotional circumstances
