Basic Salary £13,618 - to £15,252 per annum
Are you a highly motivated individual looking to start or expand your aquaculture career? We are currently looking for a passionate and highly motivated individual to make a difference at the Company’s Machrihanish broodstock site. Machrihanish is a recirculation unit located near Campbeltown. The farm currently employs 4 full time members of staff to assist in all year-round Ballan Wrasse production.
If you are ambitious and motivated and want to work with a likeminded team, then this is the role for you. This post is offered on a part time, permanent basis. The successful candidate will be required to work 20 hours per week, Monday to Friday and one weekend in four to complement a weekend rota. The successful candidate will also be expected to be part of a weekly alarm rota. We are open to facilitating flexible working hours to provide an excellent work / life balance opportunity.
About the job
This role is a crucial part of the operations process and ensures that the best management of our fish is undertaken. We need our team to strive for continuous improvement and deliver on all aspects of farm work to keep the team on track and performing well. The job includes, but is not limited to:
* Leading on feed, control and inspection of fish
* Operation and maintenance of the RAS systems
* Monitoring and maintaining fish health and welfare
* Responding to hatchery alarms when assigned on-call
* Proactive approach to Health & Safety practices throughout the hatchery
* General farm tasks to keep the whole operation running
The ideal candidate should have an interest in the aquaculture industry and be willing to learn. They will be willing to expand their understanding and work hard on the job.
* Previous experience with marine finfish would be a distinct advantage but full training will be given.
* Flexible approach to working to meet the demands of the job
* A positive attitude and willingness to learn
* Ability to understand the aims of the site and to support the rest of the team to achieve these
* Respect for the need for safe working practices
* Driver's licence is essential. No driving licence? Don’t worry, we can help with the cost of lessons.
