Brief Description
As part of an exciting transformation in the Eastern Region Commercial Directorate, we are looking for talented individuals to join our growing team and work alongside a range of business units and across a varied and large portfolio. There are opportunities to support and lead Commercial activities on major projects and programmes, which deliver some of the most exciting and innovative projects in UK infrastructure.

In the Buyer role, you will purchase goods and services in line with company governance & procedures.
About the role (External)
Key Accountabilities
1. Assist in the procurement of higher value and more complex commodities.
2. Provision of dedicated support to senior staff in procurement functions.
3. Target specific goods, services and/or suppliers to identify how tangible improvements may be made in the procurement of these goods and services.
4. Responsible for the keeping of records to aid the production of periodical reports, and maintain evidence of procurement activities.
5. Undertake full range of procurement activities including obtaining supplier prices, tendering negotiation and purchase order placement.
Essential
1. Commercial experience and aptitude.
2. Understanding of procurement processes.
Desirable
1. Knowledge of procurement and competition legislation, procurement procedures, processes, systems and controls.
2. Membership or training for qualifications in relevant professional institution.
3. Positive and proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
4. Team player.
5. Organised and methodical.
