Job Purpose:
Following a year of growth and success, we are looking for the next addition to our grid consultancy team. We are looking for a grid connection specialist, experienced in the commercial and technical considerations of distribution and transmission connections.
This is a customer-facing role that will firstly provide grid connection and portfolio management for Eclipse Power Networks’ EHV pipeline post-award and pre-delivery, as well as providing expert grid consultancy to external customers.
The candidate must have good knowledge of the engineering and regulatory requirements of grid connections at both distribution and transmission. These roles would suit somebody with a grid connections management background at either a developer, ICP, network company or consultant.
Remuneration:
Dependent on skills and experience but no less than £45k.
Hybrid working: travel to office locations and client sites around Great Britain will be required as well as opportunity to work from home.
Main responsibilities will include:
1. Key account management of EPN’s EHV pipeline, during “Project Development”; post-award and pre-delivery.
2. Project ownership, grid connection management and development in the “Project Development” stage gate.
3. Managing milestones and understanding critical path items with the client.
4. Negotiating the IDNO interfaces with the host DNO or TO to prepare the project ready for delivery.
5. Working with DNOs, TOs and industry bodies to develop suitable policies to simplify IDNO adoption.
6. Assessing feasibility of IDNO adoption options.
7. Ensuring compliance with payment and security requirements.
8. Following and improving the EPN stage and gate process in this phase.
9. Owning and managing grid data in EPN project management system.
Other responsibilities will include:
1. Providing expert grid advice to external customers – technical, commercial, regulatory.
2. Assessing grid connection feasibility.
3. Producing grid connection application and offer documentation.
4. Scrutinising, challenging and optimising grid connection offers.
5. Representing customers with DNOs, TOs, NESO.
6. Navigating grid connection challenges with novel solutions.
7. Understanding the regulatory landscape and keeping abreast of changes – such as Connections Reform and Clean Power 2030.
8. Securing new business and maintaining existing industry and customer relationships.
9. Managing pipeline and workload effectively, communicating with customers, upstream network operators and the wider Eclipse group.
10. Owning and inputting key data into company business management systems.
11. Representing the Eclipse Power Group on industry workgroups and at events.
Knowledge and Skills Requirements:
1. Robust technical and regulatory knowledge of GB grid, including recent developments.
2. Strong understanding of connections process and contracts at distribution and transmission.
3. Understanding of complexities such as Project Progressions, Connections Reform etc.
4. Project development and management experience, relating to grid connections.
5. Ability to utilise network company resources for assessing viability of connections.
6. Confidence to challenge network operator assumptions and standards to drive efficiencies.
7. Effective communicator of technical subjects to non-technical audiences – both oral and written.
8. Ability to work independently and with agility, effectively prioritising tasks.
9. Desire to provide innovative and creative ideas to grow the business and drive efficiencies.
10. Consultancy experience, scoping requirements and preparing proposals.
11. Engagement with industry initiatives and workgroups.
12. Strong network of industry contacts.
13. Full driving licence valid in the UK.
