Job Summary
An opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and dynamic pharmacist to join the pharmacy team at Buckinghamshire NHS Trust as the pharmacy lead for the care group of surgery and critical care.
You will lead the pharmacy service to the care group, working with your team to optimise the pharmaceutical care of patients and ensure high quality evidence-based prescribing. You will be an expert in the management of critically unwell patients and you will be encouraged to work collaboratively with other professionals across the care group to ensure patients receive maximum benefit from their medicines.
This post would be suitable for an experienced 8a that wishes to develop or those already working at 8b level. This post will offer exciting and challenging opportunities that can be tailored by the successful post holder.
Main Duties of the Job
1. To lead a team delivering patient centred medicines optimisation and clinical pharmacy to critical care and surgical patients.
2. To contribute to the governance agenda within critical care at a senior level by strategically leading, managing and co-ordinating the provision of pharmacy services for critically unwell patients, ensuring high quality, safe and cost-effective care across the care group.
3. To act as role model at local, regional and national level.
4. To identify and mitigate risks relating to medicines.
5. To lead and deliver education and training relating to pharmaceutical care and management of the critically unwell and complex surgical patients.
6. To lead and develop audit, quality improvement and research within the clinical area and publish research outcomes.
7. To provide expert advice to clinicians regarding medicines for critically unwell patients.
8. To act as a non-medical prescriber.
9. To ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory medicines legislation across the care group.

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING
Essential
* Registered Pharmacist: Member of the GPhC
* Post-graduate diploma in clinically pharmacy or recognised equivalent
* Independent Prescribing qualification (or willing to study for this)
Desirable
* Member of the RPS
* RPS faculty Stage II accreditation Education qualification
EXPERIENCE
Essential
* Extensive experience in hospital pharmacy at a Post-Registration Pharmacist level.
* Substantial experience in delivering pharmacy services across a broad range of specialties.
* Demonstrable experience in providing clinical pharmacy services at a specialist level.
* Experience in managing and delivering projects.
* Significant experience in managing and supervising staff.
* Proficient in conducting service audits and utilising performance indicators.
* Experience working at Directorate Pharmacist level.
* Extensive experience in teaching and tutoring.
