The Opportunity:
The Vale lab is advertising a 4-year Research Assistant position, funded by a BBSRC grant on the genetic and immune determinants and evolutionary constraints underlying individual variation in host infectiousness.
This post is advertised as full-time (35 hours per week); however, we are open to considering part-time or flexible working patterns.
Your skills and attributes for success:
1. Experience and extensive knowledge of Drosophila rearing and genetics.
2. Knowledge and previous experience in basic microbiology protocols, including the protocols of culturing, infecting, and quantifying bacterial pathogens.
3. Ability to manage and organise own time, including prioritization of tasks within the agreed work schedule.
4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build rapport with colleagues and collaborators.
5. Understanding of the Health & Safety procedures and safe lab practice.
£34,132 to £39,355 per annum (pro rata if part-time) (Grade 6)
