About the Role
We are looking to recruit 2 Band 6 Occupational therapist/ Physiotherapist to work within the community to ensure that all bed rails and bed grab handles previously issued within the community have up-to-date risk assessments and comply with the latest MHRA (Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency) regulations.
The post holder will be responsible for developing and implementing the process regarding this work stream (with support from senior colleagues). They will liaise directly with patients, carers and family members to carry out specialist risk assessments and give advice and information on bed rails and bed grab handles. The post holder will also liaise and link with other services such as community rehabilitation teams, community nurses’ teams and social care colleagues to ensure that bed rails and bed grab handles have up-to-date risk assessments.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead the review and update process for bed rails and bed grab handles, ensuring they meet current MHRA standards.
2. Work closely with community equipment providers, cross-referencing their system with electronic patient records.
3. Communicate directly with patients, carers, and families to confirm the ongoing use of equipment, conduct risk assessments, and provide advice on safe usage.
4. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including community rehabilitation teams, community nurses, and social care professionals to ensure risk assessments are up to date.
5. Maintain accurate records of progress and work in close partnership with senior colleagues.
