Consultants in Critical Care Transfer (ARCC KSS)
Consultant
Job overview
We are excited to welcome applications for Consultants to join the new Adult Critical Care Transfer team (ACCTS) in Kent, Surrey & Sussex (KSS). This exciting new service, known as ARCC KSS, is hosted by RSFT and will strive to provide a high standard of clinical care to adult patients requiring inter-hospital transfers across the region and into London for reasons such as escalation of care, repatriation, capacity and continuation of care. We are now recruiting Duty Transfer Consultants to join our team. We would like to hear from you if you are passionate about critical care and ensuring the safe and effective transfer of critically unwell adults.
Consultants in Critical Care Transfer are doctors on the GMC Specialist Register for Intensive Care Medicine (ICM) or Anaesthesia or both, who will work with Transfer Practitioners (TPs) and Emergency Care Support Workers (ECSWs) as part of the ARCC Clinical Transfer Team. The ARCC clinical transfer team will deliver high-quality, safe and effective care whilst undertaking inter-hospital transfers primarily across KSS but into neighboring regions on occasion. The Transfer Consultant provides support, care and necessary clinical interventions to patients in the hospital and transfer environment, using appropriate skills and equipment, ensuring they are transferred efficiently and safely to a facility which is best suited to provide treatment for their ongoing clinical needs.
Main duties of the job
The Transfer Consultant will be required to take referrals from healthcare providers across KSS and provide advice and guidance to referring teams, allocate an urgency and priority to each transfer and communicate effectively to mobilise teams and update the referring and receiving Trusts.
Transfer Consultants will work as part of a daytime rota covering shifts from 09:00-21:00, 7 days per week, 365 days per year. There are currently no night shifts as part of this service. Clinical transfer teams will be based at 2 hubs across KSS in Crawley and Maidstone. We are interested in consultants that would like to work for ARCC KSS as a regular commitment, for example, averaging 1 or 2 PAs per week or ad hoc shifts.
