About the Role
We seek a skilled blockchain developer to maintain and enhance an existing Polygon fork Layer 1 (L1) blockchain and build innovative new technologies on this ecosystem. This is a contract/freelance role initially, working on specific deliverables as they arise, but with the potential for full-time/ongoing engagement further down the line. The role is suited to an experienced developer and could potentially fit around existing engagements as part of a portfolio career.
You will assist with ensuring the stability, scalability, and performance of the existing blockchain infrastructure while facilitating the development of new features and integrations to expand the ecosystem's capabilities as required.
Key Responsibilities
Blockchain Maintenance:
* Maintain and optimise the existing Polygon fork L1 blockchain.
* Implement bug fixes/patches.
* Manage node configurations, consensus mechanisms, and chain upgrades as needed.
Ecosystem Development:
* Design and implement new features and functionalities for the blockchain ecosystem.
* Integrate smart contracts and dApps to expand ecosystem utility.
* Support developers and external integrations.
Security and Performance:
* Ensure the blockchain remains secure against vulnerabilities.
* Optimise blockchain performance for scalability and low latency.
* Mitigate risks associated with the ecosystem’s operation.
Collaboration and Documentation:
* Work closely with other team members.
* Write and maintain comprehensive documentation.
Requirements
Technical Expertise:
* Proven experience working with Polygon or Ethereum-based forks.
* Strong knowledge of Solidity, EVM, and Layer 1 blockchain architecture.
* Hands-on experience with smart contract development, deployment, and testing.
* Familiarity with consensus algorithms such as PoS (Proof of Stake).
Programming Skills:
* Proficiency in Go, Rust, JavaScript (Node.js).
* Experience with blockchain tools and frameworks.
* Knowledge of databases.
Additional Skills:
* Understanding of DeFi concepts, tokenomics, and ecosystem development.
* Experience with cross-chain integrations and bridging.
* Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines.
Soft Skills:
* Fluent English, good spoken and written communication.
* Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
* Ability to work independently and manage tasks effectively in a remote environment.
* Able to generate high quality documentation.
Good to Have
* Contributions to open-source blockchain projects.
* Prior experience maintaining or launching a Layer 1 blockchain.
* Understanding of cryptographic principles and security protocols.
