Medicines Management Pharmacy Tech - Acute Medicine & Emergency Care

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual that will help shape this service. As an innovative Pharmacy Department continually expanding our services, we are looking to expand our qualified pharmacy technician workforce.
You will be part of an expanding team of highly professional staff, working predominantly in our ED, Acute Medical Unit, our first of its kind SDEC.
We are looking for a Medicines Management Pharmacy Technician with strong interpersonal skills, ideally with an ACPT qualification or be willing to work towards it. We welcome applications from individuals with excellent communication skills, a patient-centered attitude, the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively, and have the motivation to strive for continued improvement.
Applicants should possess NVQ level 3 or equivalent, a BTEC national certificate, be registered with the GPhC, and have current hospital experience. This post offers a structured training programme.
Hours of work will be 7.5 hours on a Monday to Friday from 8:50 am to 5:20 pm, with late nights on a rota basis. Late night hours will be from 11:00 pm to 7:30 am. The post holder will be required to participate in weekend/bank holiday working on a rota basis to support a seven-day service.
Main Duties of the Job
The post holder will primarily be working at ward level providing a pharmacy service to include:
* Assessment of Patient's Own Drugs (PODs)
* Supply
* Counselling
Training, supervising, and coordinating the work of band 4 rotational pharmacy technicians, ATOs, students, and support staff at ward level.
A full and comprehensive training package will be provided.
There will also be a commitment to the dispensary to carry out the final accuracy checking of medication for a minimum of 2 hours per week; therefore, a current and valid Accredited Pharmacy Checking (ACPT) certificate is required (consideration will be given to those candidates who are already in the process of gaining this qualification).
The post-holder will participate in our late night, weekend, and bank holiday rotas.
Technicians may be asked to provide support on any of the Trust sites.

Person Specification
Qualifications & Education
* Current registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council of Great Britain
* GCSE grade C or equivalent in Maths and English
* NVQ Level 3 or equivalent AND BTEC National Certificate in Pharmacy services
Knowledge and Training
* Experience of the use of PMR (Patient Medical Records) or other electronic computer systems such as JAC, Proscript, Compass, or alike.
* Recent experience in either a community or hospital pharmacy evidenced by competency-based assessment.
Experience
* Recent relevant experience in a hospital pharmacy evidenced by competency-based assessment.
Planning & Organisational Skills
* Able to work during the normal working week, extended hours, weekends, and bank holidays.
* Able to manage own time well.
* Able to communicate and organize own work.

£26,530 to £36,483 a year pro rata per annum.
