Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Gardener / Handy Man / Porter to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a good understanding of gardeneing and maintenance enabling them to address various tasks efficiently. This role requires a proactive individual who can work independently and is committed to providing high-quality service to our clients.
Duties Gardening duties to include (but not limited to):
* Watering and weeding - plant maintenance
* Maintenance of planters
* Cleaning of Ropewalk and patio areas
* Planting and plant maintenance and care
* Identifying plant disease and diagnose treatment
* Maintenance and cleaning of water fountain
* Ensure adequate inventory of materials in order to perform duties.
* Communication with residents – spoken and written English
* Courteous and polite to residents, guests, suppliers, tradesmen and the public in general
* Keep accurate records of work completed and materials used.
Duties Maintenance duties to include (but not limited to):
* Reporting to and working under the Head of Maintenance
* Communal lighting inspections of the building, and replace or report any defective bulbs, painting, fixing locks etc. and assisting residents.
* Responsibility for the cleanliness and up keep of basement areas
* Rubbish collection from basement and recycling
* Carrying out meter readings
* Responsibility for maintaining and cleaning basement areas
* Regular maintenance and checking of lightwell areas
* Keeping drains clear of debris and litter at all time
* Monitor all persons at the property and ensure they have a right to be present
* Security – vigilent at all times and confident to challenge people if you see fit
* Report any Health & Safety issues and ensure a full safe working practice.
* H&S training and certifications
* H&S inspections – water, fire and gas
* Carry out any additional duties as directed by the Head of Maintenance, Head Porter and Secretary
Duties Maintenance duties to include (but not limited to):
* Carry out any additional duties as directed by the Head of Maintenance, Head Porter and Secretary
* Smartly presented and turned out when on duty
* Monitor the car-park at all times and uphold car-parking rules
* Assisting all residents and guest where required, including residents’ reasonable requests, holding open doors and car doors, carrying bags, general assistance
* Monitoring of CCTV and people entering and exiting
* Maintaining visitors book
* Deliver parcels and carry bags
* Safeguarding keys
* Logging all significant activity and events
* Housekeeping – ensuring general cleanliness in and around the courtyard, mansion and ropewalk
* Carry out any additional duties as directed by the Head Porter and Secretary.
Qualifications / Competencies
* Proven experience in gardening andl maintenance is preferred.
* Ability to use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
* Smartly presented and turned out at all times.
* Polite and courteous to Residents, Trustees and Visitors
* Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
* Self-starter, with drive, energy and enthusiasm.
* Demonstrates the highest standards of professional and ethical conduct in all circumstances.
* Aware of all professional codes of practice and operational standards.
* Able to apply discretion where required and with common sense.
* Co-operate with your fellow Porters and team.
* Show flexibility and a sense of compromise over such matters as the shift roster
* Be a team player and respectful towards your fellow team members
* Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and within a team.
* Flexibility to work varied hours as required by client needs.
