Purpose of the role:
This role is responsible for sourcing and developing fabric, prints and trims for all product categories at Agent Provocateur. With a keen creative eye, this role will develop unique and exclusive fabric and trim within company margin requirements whilst adhering to the brand integrity of Agent Provocateur.
Main duties and responsibilities:
1. Work closely with the Design Team to identify key fabric trends for the season and initiate sourcing and development directly with selected mills.
2. Research and source new mills on a global level (US, Europe, Asia) to fulfill the product requirements.
3. Organise seasonal appointments with fabric mills and agents to make initial selection with the design team following research.
4. Visit global trade fairs and liaise with fabric mills to stay up to date with new innovations and creations within the textile industry.
5. Hold seasonal fabric presentations with the Creative Director and Design Team – presenting strong seasonal colour stories, demonstrating fashion awareness and a sharp creative eye.
6. Initiate reviews with the design and product teams to ensure all developments are signed off in line with company standards and CP deadlines.
7. Work closely with Head of Design and fabric technologist to redevelop fabrics where necessary to achieve workable garment prices, minimums and margins.
8. Work alongside the fabric technologist for all fabrics at the beginning of the season regarding any concerns with quality and testing to ensure minimum requirements are met.
9. Co-ordinate and liaise with mills for concise and updated information for range planning.
10. Frequently update and maintain the fabric and trim library to aid fabric selection.
11. Monitor company spend by season on fabric sample development to meet department budget expectations.
12. Attend weekly Design meetings prepared with relevant information.
13. Populate the business tools and ensure working documents are kept up to date and relevant including design edits, sign off and partner events.
What you'll need:
1. A Degree in Textiles would be advantageous.
2. 3 years’ experience in a similar role.
3. Knowledge of RTW and Lingerie fabric.
4. Good knowledge of lingerie construction and manufacturing processes.
5. Creative mindset to think outside the box and create new and exciting products.
6. Experience with European and Far East suppliers beneficial.
7. Working knowledge of Adobe CC, Microsoft and Excel.
8. Flexibility in working hours and willingness to travel internationally.
9. Clear communicator, responding promptly and accurately to all enquiries.
