Global engineering business is hiring a Procurement Buyer to support direct procurement activity for manufacturing. Applicants should have previous experience as a Buyer, or in a purchasing/procurement role.
The Buyer will join a large and supportive procurement team enjoying a period of growth. Procurement activity will focus on direct spend areas for manufacturing. The environment is fast-paced and dynamic, so the Buyer will closely manage the supply chain to ensure continuity of supply to achieve OTD/OTIF, or initiate supplier recovery or improvement plans to help underperforming vendors.
Specific duties of the Buyer will include:
1. Review, confirm availability and process purchase requisitions in MRP
2. Liaison with internal departments - Production, Engineering, Stores, Shopfloor etc.
3. Supplier orderbook management in MS Excel using (pivot tables, vlookup, and formulas)
4. Supplier Performance Management - develop underperforming suppliers, recovery plans, reviews etc.
5. Review supplier contracts to ensure SLAs met in regards to QCD etc.
6. Expedite material shortage issues and produce reports regarding shortages/supplier performance etc.
7. Identify and qualify potential new supply chain partners
8. Drive productivity opportunities with suppliers to deliver cost-out goals
Buyer applicants should meet the following criteria:
1. Purchasing/procurement experience as a Junior Buyer, Buyer, or Senior Buyer
2. Supplier management skills and the ability to manage supplier accounts, orderbooks, recovery plans
3. Data analysis skills - particularly MS Excel (pivot tables, vlookup, formulas)
4. An appreciation of quality considerations and traceability
5. MRP experience
6. Enthusiastic, adaptable, and motivated team players
7. Comfortable being site-based 5 days per week, 8-4:30pm Monday to Thursday and 8-1pm on Friday
