Are you an experienced Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) professional looking for a leadership role in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment? A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Manager to join a leading food production site, driving compliance, sustainability, and continuous improvement.
About the Role:
As the HSE Manager, you will be a key part of the site's leadership team, taking full responsibility for health & safety, environmental management, and sustainability strategies. You will drive a culture of safety, ensure compliance with regulations, and implement initiatives to reduce environmental impact and improve site security.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead the HSE agenda on-site, ensuring all standards and regulations are met and exceeded.
2. Act as the go-to expert for all health, safety, and environmental matters, providing technical and legislative guidance.
3. Develop and implement site-wide HSE policies, ensuring alignment with UK and Group strategies.
4. Manage the EPR Permit, EMS system, and site sustainability strategy to drive environmental compliance and carbon reduction initiatives.
5. Oversee incident investigation processes, ensuring proper root cause analysis and corrective actions are implemented.
6. Conduct internal audits, maintain compliance with BRC and other regulatory requirements.
7. Develop training and coaching initiatives to enhance HSE knowledge and compliance across all levels.
8. Engage with regulatory bodies (EA, HSE, auditors, customers, and local authorities) to ensure best-in-class compliance.
9. Manage site security, ensuring legal and customer requirements are met.
What We're Looking For:
1. Strong expertise in Health, Safety, and Environmental compliance within a manufacturing or food production environment.
2. In-depth knowledge of HSE law, EPR permits, ESOS regulations, and sustainability initiatives.
3. A proactive leader who can drive cultural change and embed best practices in safety and environmental management.
4. Experience in incident investigation, risk assessments, and audit processes.
5. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
6. NEBOSH or equivalent health & safety qualification is essential.
7. Experience working with BRC and food industry regulatory compliance is highly desirable.
