The role We are looking for an enthusiastic person to join our laboratory team as a microbiologist. You will receive full training and mentoring, and reach the competency levels needed, before processing real samples. There are many learning opportunities as you progress, your initial role would be: Processing water samples and identifying organisms in our UKAS accredited laboratory, including TVCs, coliform/E.coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Legionella isolation; Performing daily quality controls; Receiving and conformance testing of goods received in the laboratory; Assisting in the routine calibration of both laboratory and site equipment; and Working in the prep room including media preparation, sterilising and washing glassware. We have a flexible approach to work and understand the importance of a work life balance. Salary and benefits The starting salary is £22,000£24,500 depending on your experience and qualifications. Who are we looking for? We have set our sights on a microbiologist with: A methodical and logical approach to work practices and the ability to follow procedures; The ability to work independently, as part of a team and to support team members; The ability to complete different types of tasks each day; Effective communication skills; A 40-minute or less commute to Horsham, West Sussex. It would be preferable for you to have: A scientific degree or at least an A-level science. It is necessary for you to have: GCSE or equivalent in science; The capability and enthusiasm to learn; and The ability to work flexible hours. Flexible working hours Your working hours will be 35 hour per week. The hours do vary and can be flexible, but our lab team works 7-hour shifts between 07:30-17:00. ADZN1_UKTJ
