Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a 37.5 hour a week, Band 3 Health Care Support Worker to join our team in our Psychiatric intensive care unit.
PICU is a 6 bedded mixed gender mental health unit based within the Mental Health Unit, Royal Glamorgan Hospital. Our unit offers an opportunity for individuals to provide care and support to service users experiencing severe mental illness. The job will require you to work alongside and support registered nurses and clinicians in delivering a care planned approach to improve service users' mental health.
We work collaboratively with patients as a multidisciplinary team in providing gold standard care and promoting mental health recovery. PICU is a challenging environment that allows for development opportunities and to work within a supportive team.

Main duties of the job
To support the provision of Health Care to the people experiencing long-term mental ill health in a rehabilitation in-patient setting.
The post holder will deliver specific components of the service users' care plan as delegated by the registered nurse and will regularly be required to work without direct supervision.
Supervise junior members of staff providing advice and guidance.
* Work within a Multidisciplinary Team under the direction of a registered nurse.
* Deliver health care within the Care and Treatment framework.
* Provide support to service users on an individual and on a group basis within the inpatient.
* With support from Registered Nurses, be responsible for and manage own workload and safety.
* Participate in supervision from Registered Nurses.
Actively participate in continuing professional development through the Knowledge Skills Framework.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
