This is an exciting opportunity to further your career and enhance your bookkeeping skills and experience within Emanuel School's busy Finance Team.
The role
As a Finance Officer, you will be responsible for managing our nominal and purchase ledgers, ensuring that all journals and invoices are processed promptly, accounts are reconciled and payments are made accurately.
You will process the weekly BACS run and all ancillary payments, ensuring all invoices are correctly authorised and coded. You will also set up new supplier accounts and maintain existing account details and relationships.
About you
We are looking for individuals with a degree in accounting and excellent financial knowledge, including an understanding of accounts standards, accounting software and VAT. You will either be part qualified or working towards a professional accounting qualification (e.g. ACCA, CIMA, ACA).
You will need significant experience of bookkeeping/management accounting, monitoring budgets, and setting/adhering to financial controls. Strong attention to detail, as well as good time-management, organisational and MS Excel skills, will also be essential for success in this role.
Working at Emanuel
There is always a buzz at Emanuel. Colleagues enjoy their work and, like the pupils, are ambitious for the school. With a weekly staff briefing, half termly staff meetings, termly consultative group meetings and a common room committee, all of us are engaged in a lively ongoing dialogue about the school's aims and aspirations.
Everyone works hard here, and anyone joining us should expect to do the same and share our commitment to the highest standards. At the same time our ethos remains unpretentious, kindly and practical, and there's a strong sense of community and friendship at the school.
We aim to look after our staff well: we have an appraisal scheme with a focus on employees' professional development; we sponsor postgraduate courses and a range of training opportunities; we offer a healthcare plan via Simply Health that includes counselling and medical support; and we're committed to supporting staff wellbeing. Financially, all staff benefit from good pension provision and free lunches.
