This position is critical to the Finance Team contributing to the overall effective financial management of the organisation. About the role
As a Finance Officer – Purchase Ledger, you’ll play an essential role in supporting the smooth running of our financial operations, directly contributing to the success of the services we provide. This exciting role offers the chance to gain exposure to a wide range of financial responsibilities, perfect for someone who’s a problem solver, organised, and ready to learn.
Reporting to the Head of Financial Accounting, you’ll act as a key link between central and local services, helping ensure our finance systems work efficiently and supporting both your colleagues and the wider organisation.
Your responsibilities as a Finance Officer – Purchase Ledger will include:
* Invoice and Purchase Order Management: Ensuring purchase orders are matched to invoices accurately to meet authorisation requirements, managing outstanding PO lists, and following up on missing purchase orders, including those for agency usage.
* Supplier and Payment Processes: Reconciling supplier statements (with a focus on key suppliers such as agencies) monthly, processing purchase ledger invoices and resolving queries, and managing bi-monthly supplier payment runs.
* Staff and Service Transactions: Processing staff expenses and petty cash claims, resolving any issues, and handling shop transactions weekly, including paperwork and bank total confirmations.
* Banking Support: Assisting with weekly bank runs and other ad hoc financial tasks as required.

* Strong analytical skills and a sharp eye for detail.
* Exceptional organisational skills and a proactive approach.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to foster good relationships with clients and wider teams.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Packages particularly in Excel and a passion for learning new systems.
* Ability to work under pressure, quickly adapt and resolve issues accurately, providing solutions.
