Design Manager
Location: Borehamwood, Hertfordshire
JRL Civil Engineering is a part of the JRL Group which encompasses 14+ divisions delivering bespoke solutions for the most complex projects. Since our inception in 2005, we have fast become an industry leader in the installation of Continuous Flight Auger (CFA), Rotary Bored, Cased CFA and Contiguous & Secant Pile Retaining Wall.
In addition to this we have other wide capabilities to provide a self-sufficient piling package which includes design and installation of Working Platforms, piling muck-away, piling attendances and Principle Contractor Role.
Due to upcoming projects, we are now seeking a Design Manager to join the team.
Responsibilities:
12. Managing a team of designers to produce engineering solutions that are safe, innovative, constructible and economical
13. You will manage workload across the technical team and external design resource (where required)
14. Drive technical market making - developing and maintaining relationships with Consultants and Clients.
15. Support & mentor less experienced members of the technical team, for example senior design engineers, design engineers and graduate engineers.
16. Manage tender and contract design processes in accordance with programmer, budget and technical requirements.
17. Work within teams to develop safe and cost-effective engineering solutions that meet the needs of our clients, ensuring that all relevant technical, health, safety and environmental standards are satisfied.
18. Ensure that any design risks on projects are identified, recorded and appropriately mitigated.
Requirements:
19. Experience in design within piling and foundations engineering with a good working knowledge of Eurocode and British Standards.
20. Demonstrable experience managing teams to deliver in a similar environment.
21. Good understanding of materials and construction methods / processes.
22. Good level of knowledge and understanding of BIM.
23. Good working knowledge of health and safety and environmental legislation.
24. Excellent report writing skills.
25. Willingness to travel frequently across the UK to support wider team and clients.
