Timberpak Ltd., a leading wood recycler, is seeking a skilled Mechanical Fitter to enhance our Leeds-based team. The role comprises keeping our plant equipment efficient and cost-effective, overseeing routine maintenance, managing external contractors, acting as our first contact point for repairs, supporting new equipment implementation, and ensuring safe working conditions.

Your Tasks
1. Ensure that all plant and equipment on site is maintained, providing recommendations for increasing plant efficiency and cost effectiveness.
2. Liaise with the Operations Manager as to the condition of the mechanical and electrical equipment or related production problems.To provide recommendations for increasing plant efficiency and cost effectiveness.
3. Act as the first line of contact for repairs and maintenance work on site and arrange and monitor, in relation to quality, and safety.
4. Carry out any routine maintenance on any plant and equipment.
5. Act as main point of contact to external service providers, as well as appointed building, maintenance and engineering contractors and industrial cleaners.
6. Manage any contract labour engaged in any maintenance activity on site.
7. Support the planning, installation and commissioning of any new equipment.
8. Ensure that all maintenance and related tasks are conducted in a safe working manner and that any incidents or accidents and hazards are duly reported.
9. Assist in the planning and alterations and development to any infrastructure on site.
10. Ensure the maintenance workshop and stores are kept in a clean and tidy condition and to contribute an acceptable level of housekeeping on the site.
11. Assist when required in relevant maintance work at other timberpak locations in particular Washington.
Our Requirements
12. NVQ Level 3 Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
13. Fabrication experience to include various welding techniques such as MIG, and Arc. A coded welder qualification would be an advantage.
14. FLT Licence, however training can be provided.
15. Supervisory experience or experience of managing external contractors.
16. Knowledge of relevant Health and Safety Legislation.
17. Intermediate standard of IT skills and competent use of Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook).
18. Good communication skills.
19. Excellent attention to detail.
20. Well organised and efficient.
