MISSION
The Electrical Panel Builder will report to the Production Manager and assist in the assembly of Medical Air and Vacuum System control panels and wiring. As part of the production team, you will work in close collaboration with Engineering, Project Management, Mechanical Systems Assembly, and Logistics departments to ensure the highest quality systems are built to customer and medical industry standards and shipped on-time. Our production team members are continually looking for ways to improve processes and strive toward manufacturing excellence.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Electrical Wiring and Panel Building
* Assembly and mounting of components to back panels and in panel enclosures
* Route and bundle wire and cables neatly and to electrical standards
* Point to point wiring of relays, controls, PLCs, I/O modules, VFs, Interfaces, and instrumentation
* Review and understand all electrical and mechanical design drawings and specifications including dimensions and layout of back panels and enclosures to verify project requirements and compliance with applicable codes, wiring methods, parts availability, etc.
* Use mechanical drawings to assist in the assembly of electro-mechanical systems as needed and work with Mechanical Systems Assemblers and Engineering team members to ensure proper fit and function
* Label parts and systems according to all procedural and/or legislative requirements
* Assist colleagues as needed in the assembly of architectural, secondary, and electrical systems
* Assist in consumables and component parts inventory management to ensure on-time delivery to meet customer expectations
* Participate in regular inventory management processes including cycle counts and annual inventory counts and audits
* Responsible for notifying Production Manager and Engineering if established BOMs or designs are changed with regard to panels to facilitate changes to manufacturing drawings and updates made to BOMs
* Assist in building skids and crates to package completed medical systems for safe shipping
* Abide by all required Quality Management requirements and complete documentation in compliance with ISO, CSA, and TSSA requirements
* Maintain a clean and safe work environment including routine cleaning and organization of workstation and production area
* Maintain a Safety-First attitude, participate in JHSC as a worker representative and report any unsafe work conditions and hazards, missing/defective equipment and protective devices
* Wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety shoes, safety glasses, and hearing protection, etc.
Other Duties as Required
* Ensures adherence to established Class 1 procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs, and safety standards
* Perform assigned duties in accordance with Class 1 Inc standards, while always striving to understand the needs and expectations of the customer. Take whatever action is appropriate and required to get the job done and to establish and maintain communications with all people/employees considered necessary to get the job done
LOCATION & TRAVEL
* Based at 565 Boxwood Dr. Cambridge, ON N3E 1 A5
QUALIFICATIONS
* Post-secondary diploma in electronics or electro-mechanical field (or equivalent work experience)
* 3-5 years’ experience in mechanical or electro-mechanical assembly in a manufacturing environment
* Forklift license considered an asset
* TSSA brazing certification considered an asset
* Police Record Check required
REQUIREMENTS
This position places a strong focus on communicating and collaborating across multiple departments and ability to work towards deadlines (shipping dates). Production team members must be available to work up to 40 hours a week from 6:30 am – 3:00 pm Monday – Friday or 6:30 am – 5:00 pm Monday – Thursday.
KNOWLEDGE
* Experience with the TSSA electrical code and CAN / CSA Standard Z7396.1 – 17 (Medical Gas Pipeline Systems) considered an asset
* Proficient in MS Office Suite (including Excel)
SKILLS & ABILITIES
* Able to read detailed and colour-coded schematics
* Competent in the use of power tools and hand tools (drills, drill press, band saw, nail gun, table saw, punch press, tank tipper, gantry, etc.)
* Comfortable working independently and collaborating remotely with colleagues
* Able to lift and carry 50lbs on a regular basis
