About the role:
We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join a premier team of Engineers at the 423rd Civil Engineering Squadron, Royal Air Force (RAF) Alconbury, United Kingdom. You will be responsible for performing planning and design work for substantial multi-phase new construction, renovations, and improvement projects for real property facilities, including utility systems, utilizing a professional knowledge of mechanical engineering.
You will manage projects for new construction, renovations, and improvements to real property facilities and maintain surveillance over construction contractors to ensure overall compliance with contracted specifications and schedules. Additionally, you will perform work in facilities operations and maintenance functions and provide consulting services and project coordination.
Your hours of work will be 37.5 hours per week on a fixed schedule (Mon-Fri 0800-1630) where start & end times may be modified due to mission needs and in accordance with the organization’s flexible working policies.

About you:
You will have a professional knowledge of mechanical engineering concepts, principles, and practices, and familiarity with architectural and other engineering disciplines. You will also have knowledge of program planning and budgeting cycles, financial control and budget systems, and management.
You will have a thorough knowledge of a broad range of engineering and construction standards, methods, practices, and techniques, materials, and equipment to determine compliance with federal, state, and local codes and regulations. In addition, you will have knowledge of aesthetic and functional design techniques and skill in preparing project documentation, to include preliminary drawings, sketches, and construction drawings.
Qualification requirements:
* A degree in the subject matter related field appropriate to the position and one year’s specialized experience directly related to the duties of the role.

* A combination of college level education and specialized experience directly related to the duties of the role.
* or
* A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree.
