The company:
A market leading infrastructure site who employ a dynamic team of circa 150 staff.
The project:
The Lead Construction Logistics Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing a site-wide logistics strategy for a potential capital investment of circa £2.8 billion over the next decade. Once implemented, the role holder will be responsible for leadership and management of construction logistics to support a multitude of projects that will potentially peak at over £500m per annum in value.
The role:
Reporting into key stakeholders your role will involve but not be limited to:
1. Lead the development, implementation of and ongoing management of the Construction Logistics Strategy to enable safe, efficient, effective and timely delivery of centralised Construction Logistics across the diverse portfolio of projects whilst minimising impact to the site.
2. Lead the market-engagement, tendering, evaluation and selection of a 3rd party Construction Logistics Partner to deliver the required elements of the strategy.
3. Lead the onboarding process for the 3rd party Construction Logistics Partner, ensuring seamless transition from Contractor-led to Client-led model.
4. Lead the ongoing delivery of logistics services by the Construction Logistics Provider.
5. Measure and report on the performance of the 3rd party logistics partner and contractors in planning and delivering construction logistics.
6. Review and validate resource and cost estimates provided for delivering logistics support to projects to ensure value for money.
7. Review contractor logistics submittals, ensuring compliance with accepted plans and the site construction logistics strategy.
8. Produce and issue appropriate and accurate site wide communications for projects that have an operational impact.
9. Develop and implement continuous improvements for project delivery processes and procedures.
10. Implement measures to mitigate risks associated with logistics.
11. Drive the adoption of new logistics technologies and techniques.
12. Lead, manage, and support logistics resources assigned to the role.
13. Support the Project Teams by providing critical advice in the development of the logistics strategy for individual projects.
14. Identify and apply relevant lessons learnt back into the Construction Logistics Strategy.
About you:
1. Qualified to Degree level or equivalent qualification in construction management, engineering, or a logistics-related discipline.
2. Substantial experience as a senior construction logistics manager or equivalent on complex multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects.
3. Experience in developing, implementing, and managing logistics strategies across multiple projects and contractors.
4. Experience managing logistics in live operational environments.
5. Experience of managing 3rd-party logistics providers on complex projects.
6. Extensive knowledge of the UK Construction Supply Chain.
7. Extensive demonstrable technical knowledge of Construction Logistics best practice.
8. Strong understanding of Health, Safety & Environmental issues in the Construction industry.
9. Strong communication skills with the ability to engage, influence, and build relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
10. Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and coach others.
11. Proficiency in key logistics and inventory management software alongside Microsoft Office applications.
12. CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) card.
