Main duties of the job
Youwill be working across site, at each of our Aseptic Units (LGI and SJUH).
Youwill be working with a number of different professions, performing a variety ofdifferent tasks, whilst working to strict deadlines.
Overviewof role:
Worksheet writing, labelling andcosting of medicines.
Stock control (duties given to you bythe Inventory Controllers).
Cleaning of the Aseptic suite.
Preparing CIVAs, Chemotherapy andParenteral Nutrition using aseptic technique inside an isolator, whilst workingin a clean room environment. This involves gowning up in sterile clean roomclothing.
Preparation of the clean roomenvironment, including the assembly of raw materials.
Therewill also be a requirement to help induct and train new members of staff oncefully competent in the role.

Job responsibilities
JOBPURPOSE
Providea variety of pharmacy support duties. These will be predominantly concernedwith stock control, labelling, assembly, preparation, dispensing and receiptand distribution of pharmaceuticals within Aseptic services. There will be somereceptionist, clerical and cleaning type duties.
JOBDIMENSIONS
Thepost holder will not have any line management responsibilities. They may on occasions be required to assistthe Pharmacy Technician Specialist with induction, supervision and training ofa particular task for Pharmacy Support workers.
Thepost holder will be required to work evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays on arotational basis.
Thepost holder will be required to travel across sites for briefing meetings,training sessions and to support service provision when necessary.
Thepost holder must adhere to a high level of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)whilst working in a cleanroom environment.As well as helping maintain a sterile environment by following astringent cleaning and monitoring schedule.
Thepost holder will be involved in the preparation of products for intravenous usein patients within LTHT. This willinvolve sessions in a cleanroom environment where the need for dexterity,manipulation and a degree of speed in product preparation is needed.

NVQ Level 2 Pharmacy Services orequivalent
Experience of working in a pharmacy
Knowledge of good customer care

PHYSICALEFFORT
Thereis a need for accuracy, dexterity, manipulation and a degree of speed in thepreparation of medicines against written worksheets/orders.
Physicaleffort required if lifting/moving boxes of fluids or dietary products. This canbe on a daily basis and can weigh up to 10kg. There may be an infrequent needto handle goods up to 20kg.
MENTALEFFORT
Concentrationis required to prepare medicines within a clean room environment against a writtenworksheet. This activity may be performed all day but the post holder is ableto take a longer break after a period of up to 2 to 3 hours.
EMOTIONALEFFORT
Someitems prepared within aseptic can be for terminally ill patients.
WORKINGCONDITIONS
Thepost holder may on the odd occasion encounter aggressive behaviour and moststaff will attended the violence and aggression workshop. Any problems would bepassed on to a more senior member of staff.
Staffreceiving goods into Pharmacy Stores will work with changes in temperature egreceipt of order into cold store, working on or near open loading bays, workingoutside with fork lift truck.
Thepost holder will be required to receive, assemble, prepare/dispense cytotoxicmedicines in accordance with COSHH and SOPs.
Whenworking in aseptic dispensary the post holder is required to work in a confinedenvironment where aerosols are used eg alcohol sprays for disinfection. Staffmust follow COSSH guidelines and SOPs.
