About the Role: As an SEN Teaching Assistant in Winchester, you will provide essential support to students across a range of ages and abilities, helping them to engage fully with their education. You will work closely with class teachers and SEN professionals to deliver tailored learning interventions, promote positive behaviour, and create an inclusive classroom environment. Key Responsibilities: Support students on a one-to-one or small group basis in line with their individual needs and EHCPs. Assist with planning and delivering differentiated learning activities that support students with Autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, and SEMH. Foster a positive, respectful, and nurturing environment that encourages confidence and independence. Support teachers with classroom organisation, lesson preparation, and behaviour management strategies. Monitor and document pupil progress, providing feedback to the wider support team. Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils, parents, and staff to support holistic development. Promote inclusion and help reduce barriers to learning. Job Requirements: Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN in an educational, care, or voluntary setting. A caring, empathetic, and resilient nature with a genuine desire to support students with additional needs. Knowledge of SEN strategies and classroom adaptations to suit varied learning profiles. Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with staff and families. Patience, adaptability, and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations. Relevant qualifications in child development, teaching support, or SEN are advantageous but not essential. Have an updated CV ( covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps ) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
