Senior Design Manager
Salary: Competitive + package (DOE)
North West - Chorley
My client is a regional main construction contractor that, due to an increase in contract wins, requires a Senior Design Manager. They deliver a good variety of projects within housing, commercial, and industrial sectors. Typical project values range from £5 million up to around £19 million.
As a Senior Design Manager, you will have proven experience working for a regional contractor in affordable housing or commercial projects. You will possess excellent organization and communication skills.
The Senior Design Manager they are looking for must have experience in the pre-construction stages of projects, including planning submissions and preconstruction processes. The successful candidate will have experience working for main building contractors and delivering new build social housing projects, which are key to their secured work streams.
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
1. Appraising consultant appointments including costs
2. Auditing and assessing design information before and during construction
3. Reporting on risk to directors and project team
4. Advising on alternative efficient and compliant design solutions
5. Advising and agreeing programmes for information delivery
6. Attending meetings as required
7. Visiting construction sites to appraise work
8. Providing technical and design advice and assistance to colleagues and group companies
9. Building and maintaining excellent working relationships with board members, key personnel/departments, and external clients
The ideal candidate will have excellent technical expertise in the construction of complex building types, as well as knowledge of current design, planning legislation, and compliance issues. Outstanding IT skills, including CAD, are essential. You will also have excellent communication skills, both oral and written, and enjoy motivating and influencing people.
