The role
We're looking for a talented back-end software engineer to design, develop, and implement reliable and scalable software solutions. You'll leverage your expertise in Javascript, Typescript, and Node.js to build new functionality for our application.
This is a hands-on role where you'll play a key role in the entire software development lifecycle. We're looking for a team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is excited to collaborate on innovative projects.
On a typical day you will be…
1. Work collaboratively in a domain aligned cross-functional squad made up of developers, testers and product along with colleagues from customer and operations.
2. Build and implement a range of developments.
3. Provide hands-on expertise throughout software development (test, debug, deployment, monitoring and support).
4. Work on software specification and documentation.
5. Help develop and promote appropriate processes and best practice, always looking for better ways of working to drive scalability.
You’ll be successful if you have…
1. Excellent expertise in backend development with a deep understanding of TypeScript, JavaScript, Node.js.
2. Experience of full stack development (Next.js, React, .NET all beneficial).
3. Experience of Amazon Web Services, including Lambda, SQS and SNS and knowledge of Serverless environments.
4. Experience of working within a complex event-driven messaging architecture.
5. Excellent experience of implementing quality controls through the testing pyramid and writing thorough unit tests to ensure code is robust and reliable.
6. Experience of MongoDB.
7. Experience of continuous integration and working in a collaborative, rigorous product refinement process in a strong Agile Scrum environment.
8. Experience in on-call and operational excellence.
9. Are comfortable debating what we do and how we do it, bringing fresh ideas into the mix and challenging the norm.
10. Desire to learn our business domain, with ability to understand business requirements and turn this into efficient, scalable solutions.
11. Strong communication skills and the ability to express new ideas and solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences.
12. Excellent organisation skills and strong team player.
13. A quick learner able to pick up new skills and technologies easily and enjoys complex issues.
14. Previous experience of wealth management or stockbroking is beneficial.
This role isn’t for you if:
1. You rely on a lot of top-down direction. You’ll have a lot of freedom and ownership of your role.
2. You’re not comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
