Pipefitter Mate Location: Burnley, BB12, UK Wide Travel Level/Salary Range: £26,000 - £32,000 per annum (with overtime and night-out allowance) Hours: 48 hours per week Role and Responsibilities As a Pipefitter Mate, you will support experienced Pipefitters in the installation, modification, and maintenance of pipework systems. Your role will involve assisting with daily tasks, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, and maintaining high standards on-site. You will work closely with a team, following instructions and learning key skills in pipefitting. On-site Support Assist Pipefitters with the installation, modification, decommissioning, and maintenance of pipework, tanks, gauges, alarms, filters, valves, pumps, and filtration systems. Support with planned and reactive maintenance tasks at customer sites. Aid in fuel quality tasks such as sampling, uplifting, transferring, and filtering fuel. Assist in testing tanks and pipework systems for compliance and safety. Help conduct site inspections and surveys, including Oil Storage Regulations, OFTEC questionnaires, and DSEAR reporting. Support containment and clean-up procedures in case of fuel spills. Daily Tasks Follow Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) and complete Dynamic Risk Assessments as needed. Assist in handling tools and equipment safely to avoid hazards. Support line management in ensuring all personnel, contractors, and visitors comply with site safety rules. Work collaboratively to improve safety, environmental standards, and operational efficiency. Maintain a clean and organised work environment. Report equipment faults or operational issues to line management. Help with the maintenance of plant systems and machinery. Participate in ongoing training and skill development. Assist with the safe operation and loading/unloading of company vehicles. Ensure the security of company equipment and vehicles. Communicate with customers on-site when required. Complete work-related paperwork accurately and in a timely manner. Help clean and maintain tools, plant, and equipment after jobs.
