We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated, and flexible individual to fill the position of Rheumatology clerical officer. We are a dedicated team who pride ourselves in providing an excellent standard of care to our patients and supporting our wonderful clinical staff. Main duties of the job
You will work as part of the front office reception team in Rheumatology outpatients. The front office reception team are responsible for booking and managing appointments, downloading a busy helpline service, managing waiting lists and providing patient support on reception and telephone calls.
You will thrive in a busy, fast-paced environment, enjoy dealing with a variety of people both face to face and over the telephone, be flexible to the needs of the service, and also be able to manage competing priorities efficiently.
You should have a good level of experience working in an administrative environment and must also be computer literate. Previous NHS experience and knowledge of hospital systems would be an advantage.
Job responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:
* To provide efficient and effective administrative support to all operational services provided by the Rheumatology department.
* To provide a professional, courteous, and friendly customer service to colleagues and patients; to include telephone and in-person enquiries.
* To ensure patient records and information are accurate; regularly checked and updated.
* To ensure patients' privacy is protected by maintaining confidentiality when dealing with colleagues, patients, and the public.
* To appropriately schedule appointments within the clinically required timeframe; to include all relevant requests to ensure smooth running of consultations/admissions.
* To ensure Referral to Treatment (RTT) codes are correctly used and validated.
* To ensure clinics are accurately prepared.
Person Specification
Experience
* Experience of working in a busy, challenging environment.
* Experience of working within the NHS; NHS IT systems, understands medical terminology.
* Experience of working in an office-based role.
Qualifications
* Educated to GCSE Level, Grade C and above (or equivalent).
Skills & Knowledge
* Good communication skills; written and verbal.
* Strong customer service skills; friendly, compassionate, approachable, helpful and displays emotional intelligence.
* Strong administration skills; time-management, adaptable, organised with an attention to detail.
* Able to use a computer.
* Able to use Microsoft Office Outlook; create, send and receive emails, manage mailboxes.
* Able to use Microsoft Office Word and Excel.
